This photo has received some note lately. I'm glad I made it, but it turns out it wasn't all that hard. The most I had to "rough it" was to have on a jacket that wasn't quite warm enough for about five minutes out of the Jeep. But I know what the conditions were. I knew what sort of exposure and composition I had to employ. In my newspaper years, I had a friend who would always look at a photo like this and say, "If you only had a nun riding a unicycle through this scene it would be a helluva picture!" I'm not as worried about getting a great daily photo now.. when the time comes I can bring something back, no nuns needed.
